About a month and a half ago, we launched BaconReader for reddit.  We’ve been pleased with the response and appreciate the great ratings and reviews.  We also appreciate the candid feedback for how we can get better.

Today we’re pleased to announce the release of BaconReader 1.2 to the Android Market.  It has some significant new features and it integrates some of the most requested items redditors have asked for including:

• Search function available through the menu

• Improved Save and Hide functions

• Updated Menu Structure

• Sort “Top” and “Controversial” by all, hour, day, week, month, and year

• Orange Envelope when you have unread messages waiting

If you’re already using BaconReader, thank you.  We’ll keep giving BaconReader the “Bionic Man” treatment – “Better, stronger, faster.”  You’ll continue to see real improvements in the coming months including an UNDER the hood makeover that will increase the speed and stability of BaconReader.  If you haven’t tried it yet, consider giving it a shot.  If you’ve tried it previously and weren’t sure if it was the app you’re looking for, please consider giving it another go.  Still not sure…..keep watching as there is plenty more to come as we are committed to the reddit experience.

Shortly after the new release, tomorrow, January 18, 2012 to be specific, reddit will be having a 12 hour “blackout” from 8am-8pm EST to protest the SOPA/PIPA legislation that has been making the rounds in Congress.  reddit has some good reading as to why they’re doing this on their blog and we will block access to BaconReader as well, posting a reminder message about what’s going on if you try to open the app.
